Reason for decision	The recommended option will enable the County Council to continue to fulfil its statutory duty under Section 39 of the Road Traffic Act 1988, to prepare and carry out a programme of measures designed to promote road safety and to carry out studies into accidents on roads within their area, taking such measures as appear to be appropriate to prevent such accidents, including the dissemination of information and advice relating to the use of roads and the giving of practical training to road users. The strategy relates to all residents and visitors to the North Yorkshire and York area equally and does not impact any one group more than any other. The strategy recommends engagement with organisations that support people with protected characteristics to ensure that their needs are considered.
